The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montenegro to fire away a dangerous shot which Armindo Maltez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 13th play minutes Felix Montenegro shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Armindo Maltez and just under the crossbar into goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Loukianos Livas in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ponte do Carro's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alcino Jesus in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute, Tiago Cortez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Tiago Cortez came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Tiago Cortez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Ponte do Carro's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Armindo Maltez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced Ponte do Carro's goalkeeper Armindo Maltez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 40th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Maltez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. After 43 played minutes Ponte do Carro got a freekick which was hit by Loukianos Livas. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ponte do Carro's Alcino Jesus got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ponte do Carro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Armindo Maltez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Ponte do Carro were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alcino Jesus took the corner. Ponte do Carro's Alcino Jesus was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Palmiro Leite's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Palmiro Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on Ponte do Carro's corner Alcino Jesus fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Ponte do Carro were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
