A sloppy throw-in by Ferdi Eriş in the 20th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Luz Tejedor. In the 22nd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Onur-Recep Kıvrak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ defense, Luz Tejedor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Onur-Recep Kıvrak. The Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Onur-Recep Kıvrak should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alonso Berganza didn't get a good kick on the ball.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Murillo made a kick off. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedykt Lanczak, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. 87 minutes into the game, Deng Jie Wei cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Tenorio got free with Onur-Recep Kıvrak in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ fans cheered their team off the field, for while Peru had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
