Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 6th minute, Arturo Bondi fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Julio Vera, passed just outside the right post. Hortêncio Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of play. Hortêncio Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Bondi came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Mattos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Guilherme Melo. 24 minutes into the match, Fazendinha's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Hortêncio Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute of the match Fazendinha got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Andrézinho Macedo ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Fazendinha's corner Andrézinho Macedo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. After 33 played minutes Fazendinha got a freekick which was hit by Andrézinho Macedo. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Hortêncio Mattos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 36th minute of the match. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Guilherme Melo.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arturo Bondi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hortêncio Mattos. That made the score 0-3 in the 61 minute of play. In the 64th match minute, Fazendinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gláuber Camargo to maneuver through the defense. After 66 minutes Fazendinha's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Luis Andino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Hortêncio Mattos made a huge save. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Mattos having to interfere. Fazendinha's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Agustín Saelices scored to the left of an out of position Hortêncio Mattos, making the score, 0-5. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Fazendinha's Cristóvão de Barros got a free kick in the 85th minute. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
