It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 46 minutes into the match, C. S. Peron y Belgrano's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Waldir Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Pascual Lamberto scored 2-0 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. C. S. Peron y Belgrano's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Pascual Lamberto in the 67th minute. Pascual Lamberto made a great header on C. S. Peron y Belgrano's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascual Lamberto in the 70th minute of play. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Araújo having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, C. S. Peron y Belgrano's goalkeeper Waldir Araújo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Teo Playo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldir Araújo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 82 minute of play. Waldir Araújo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. C. S. Peron y Belgrano's Waldir Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 95th minute of play. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because C. S. Peron y Belgrano had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
