The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zlatko Ibrahimović to strike the kick off in the second half. The Canada fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darrel Pennington prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kelly Pearson during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Iceland booed when Canada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kelly Pearson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iceland's Jónsteinn Ásbjörnsson shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 70th minute of play.
