After having played for 26 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 29 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but Florin Dorlea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Abram Luque took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Florin Dorlea to make any attempt to save it. After 59 minutes, Luis Rubio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Salvador and the IFK Göteborg players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 60 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Rubio. Jens-Ove Lindkvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moises Fernandino struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. The El Salvador supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing El Salvador would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
