In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play forced AFC Cherries's goalkeeper Guto Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as AFC Cherries's Kaj Låsberg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 39 minutes of play. In the 42nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute Luciano Cuenca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Kaj Låsberg made the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes of play, AFC Cherries's Kaj Låsberg made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 55th minute, Vít Ambros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Ecuador booed when AFC Cherries was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vít Ambros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 59th minute. Ecuador's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Vít Ambros kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. With a little luck, AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Luis Andino fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Guto Jacinto quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Guto Jacinto in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 70th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. After having played for 75 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaj Låsberg in the 81st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, AFC Cherries's Guto Jacinto got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kaj Låsberg took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaj Låsberg in the 86th minute of play. Kaj Låsberg scored 4-1 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. AFC Cherries made a substitution. František Jakubec replaced Kaj Låsberg.
