Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Durant having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 4th minute. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Lyon 69ers's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guy Durant came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Anatol Hönes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. 14 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Lyon 69ers's Guy Durant. Guy Durant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lyon 69ers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anatol Hönes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd minute of the match, Anatol Hönes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 35 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Guy Durant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guy Durant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lyon 69ers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Slaveyko Grúbchev didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 44 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. When Romaric Orsoni fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lyon 69ers's protests and gave Romaric Orsoni a yellow card for diving instead. In the 57th match minute, Lyon 69ers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romaric Orsoni to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Beaune in the 66th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Guy Durant in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Lyon 69ers's Rodolphe Sol got a free kick in the 86th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tom Beaune, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. 94 minutes into the game, Anatol Hönes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
