In the 10th minute Pedro Paulo Dante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lv Zhen Li saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by 余永川 in the 12th minute of play forced Yala's goalkeeper Lv Zhen Li to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's zone, Niki Bundev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arthur Bufi came out of the goal and Niki Bundev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If 余永川 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arthur Bufi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yavuz Acabay in the 26th minute of the match. Esteve Abechuco kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Lv Zhen Li made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gwidon Cwojdak in the 39th minute of play. Yala's Lv Zhen Li played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 余永川 in the 41st minute of play. In the 44th minute, Froilan Jurdan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 played minutes Yala got a freekick which was hit by Froilan Jurdan. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Cristi Saron replaced Olavo Quadros. A collision led to Yala getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Froilan Jurdan hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The audience thought a goal was coming when 余永川 got free with Lv Zhen Li in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 73rd minute Cruzeiro Esporte Clube were awarded a corner. Ye Hong Shi went to the cornerflag to take it. Arthur Bufi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yavuz Acabay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yala's Lv Zhen Li played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 余永川 in the 85th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Gwidon Cwojdak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lv Zhen Li took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 余永川, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Yala's Froilan Jurdan got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Yala from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
