The audience thought a goal was coming when Reynaldo Jacinto got free with Bruno Barrett in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bruno Barrett acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 47th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Diogo Sá. With a little luck, Curacao's Bruno Barrett got control of the ball when Reynaldo Jacinto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Ricardo Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fenix Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Barrett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 57th minute, Troy Kennedy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Curacao's zone, Reynaldo Jacinto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruno Barrett came out of the goal and Reynaldo Jacinto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lochlan Newman's late challenge caught a Fenix Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lochlan Newman helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Curacao got a freekick which was hit by Lochlan Newman. Bruno Barrett came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Fenix Futebol Clube's Reynaldo Jacinto. But to his dismay, Reynaldo Jacinto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Reynaldo Cardozo made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Stanley Wallace sent off a good shot on target. Harvey Doyle kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. After 91 played minutes, Fenix Futebol Clube's Dario Patxi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bruno Barrett came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fenix Futebol Clube reached it. Reynaldo Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Curacao's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Jacinto came free, but Bruno Barrett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute, Mário Schmidt made a precise shot to the right of Bruno Barrett. Curacao's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Fenix Futebol Clube's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
