Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Everardo Mingo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ilmi Duka might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ilmi Duka ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ilmi Duka in the 44th minute of the match. If Ilmi Duka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 50th minute, Ilmi Duka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 53 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ilmi Duka in the 54th minute of play. In the 54th minute Ilmi Duka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Ilmi Duka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. In the 68thth minute of the game Ilmi Duka who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Ac Milan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. With a little luck, Ac Milan's Everardo Mingo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, Ac Milan could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
