The supporters of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube booed when Cheetah Team was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Winström didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Magalhães in the 13th minute of play forced Cheetah Team's goalkeeper Bengt Ånger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adelino Simão kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Fernandão de Amaral got a free kick in the 22nd minute. When Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Chico de Brito in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a defensive mix-up in Cheetah Team's zone, Eusébio Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bengt Ånger came out of the goal and Eusébio Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 39 minutes into the match, Chico de Brito notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Cheetah Team's Bengt Ånger. Bengt Ånger was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cheetah Team's Bengt Ånger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Magalhães in the 43rd minute of play. After 43 played minutes Cheetah Team got a freekick which was hit by Dan Lundström. Bengt Ånger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bengt Ånger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chico de Brito in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renatinho Linhares to make the kick off. Ian Abreu struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Bengt Ånger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. Vinícius Macedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tord Jakobsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Vinícius Macedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tord Jakobsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st minute Renatinho Linhares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt Ånger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mark Malmberg hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Tarcisio Goiano was substituted for Marco Furtado. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eusébio Magalhães got free with Bengt Ånger in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bengt Ånger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ian Abreu in the 74th minute. Bengt Ånger came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Renatinho Linhares. But to his dismay, Renatinho Linhares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After 79 played minutes Cheetah Team got a freekick which was hit by Patrik Holm. In the 81st minute, Mark Malmberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bengt Ånger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Magalhães in the 94th minute of the match. Eusébio Magalhães might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bengt Ånger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusébio Magalhães ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Cheetah Team's zone, Eusébio Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bengt Ånger came out of the goal and Eusébio Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Cruzeiro Esporte Clube left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cheetah Team.
