After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Joe Herring managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valencia C.F.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Joe Herring was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baraxil Sarrate breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jerry Lodge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Trollegaard in the 44th minute of play. After the first half VILLARREAL UNITED were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Valentin Voicu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Jerry Lodge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valencia C.F. made a substitution. Tuncay Candeğer replaced Alfred Claydon. Valentin Voicu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. When the match was over VILLARREAL UNITED could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Valencia C.F. throughout the match.
