Valencia C.F.'s Joe Herring got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ermegildo Edorta scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jerry Lodge, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Joe Herring had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th play minute Joe Herring came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Dorival Freire. 2-1. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Duda Velloso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Joe Herring cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Dorival Freire was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Joe Herring's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dorival Freire read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Valencia C.F.'s Guillermo Farré was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dorival Freire in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jerry Lodge made an important save on a dangerous shot by Duda Velloso in the 87th minute. Valencia C.F.'s goalkeeper couldn't reach when Reynaldo Lira 88 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 5-2. Valencia C.F.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
