Jens-Ola Boström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florentin Gougeon in the 8th minute of the match. Santiago Cañizares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guo Gang Yan went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Celil Sahir hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Santiago Cañizares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nazeer Mhlathe, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After a rather tough play, Valencia C.F.'s Tuncay Candeğer got a free kick in the 29th minute. Florentin Gougeon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valencia C.F.'s Santiago Cañizares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nazeer Mhlathe in the 40th minute of play. After 41 minutes Valencia C.F.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nazeer Mhlathe who took care of the corner kick. Nazeer Mhlathe made a great header on Jordan F1 91-05's corner, it was just that Valencia C.F.'s Santiago Cañizares managed to reach the ball for a save. With his leg Jens-Ola Boström managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when Valencia C.F.'s Jonny Logan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 44 played minutes Valencia C.F. got a freekick which was hit by Jonny Logan. 47 minutes into the game, Todd Kidd cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Jens-Ola Boström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

The wind increased when Guo Gang Yan made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Jonny Logan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ola Boström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Florentin Gougeon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Valencia C.F. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3.
