With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Ariel Osorio tried to sneak it across the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 89 minutes into the game, when Jonathan Venegas put in a rough tackle. In the 96th minute Ariel Osorio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ciriaco Sadurni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
