Juan Ibañez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Noremberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 11thth minute of the game Hugo Noremberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Camilo Franco charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Franco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 16 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Franco. Russ Barton was extremely unlucky when he, in the 22nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Francisco Seco, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 24 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Juan Ibañez was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Hugo Noremberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Hugo Noremberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. Francisco Seco, 36 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Picapiedras FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Inocencio Iago hit a great ball. Hugo Noremberg in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 47th minute of play forced Picapiedras FC's goalkeeper Juan Ibañez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hugo Noremberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes, Picapiedras FC's Ivan Hopgood shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Picapiedras FC reached it. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Ibañez having to interfere. Edelmiro Argoitz kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Jaime Cazalla sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Juan Ibañez threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Jaime Cazalla this time. With a little luck, Picapiedras FC's Juan Ibañez got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francisco Seco got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 1-1 in the right cross in the 74th match minute before Juan Ibañez had time to react. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edelmiro Argoitz during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77th minute, Edelmiro Argoitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla tried to score from far away in the 78th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Juan Ibañez made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Picapiedras FC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Bala Cañon hit a great ball. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bala Cañon's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. The Picapiedras FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Uruguay's performance. The match ended with a win for Uruguay.
