Ferry Porsche blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Ferry Porsche tried to sneak it across the goal line. Yusuf Ziya Özkan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Rolando Noboa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A sloppy throw-in by Danilo Tirso in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. Demir Aktaş hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yusuf Ziya Özkan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luz Tejedor's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Manuel Boieru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Noboa having to interfere. 63 minutes in the game Emmanuel Reyes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Milagros Fraga. Ferry Porsche might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Noboa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ferry Porsche ran back to his position shaking his head. 67 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Ferry Porsche came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after ---Atam Osmanlı---'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. After taking down the ball on Peru's corner Alonso Berganza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Yusuf Ziya Özkan quite easily take care of the ball. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Ferry Porsche put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso.
