Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dylon Ronson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Luton Town's Turabi Altınpınar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Dylon Ronson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Luton Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dylon Ronson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Justs Braslavecs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Justs Braslavecs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Luton Town was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amedeo Grifoni didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Luton Town's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Semih Eğriöz came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After some careless play in the Luton Town defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Semih Eğriöz. The Luton Town fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Semih Eğriöz should have stopped the shot.
