When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Tomas Berganza sped through BOTAFOGO's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alfonso Taraborrelli. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfonso Taraborrelli having to interfere. Jaanek Oese succeeded in the game's 30th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kauan Melo in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Cotilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaanek Oese in the 37th minute of play. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. Jaanek Oese hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After 45 played minutes BOTAFOGO got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Sanches. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Isidoro Sarmiento hit a great ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Berganza to strike the kick off in the second half. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Alfonso Taraborrelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kauan Melo struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Marcos Cotilla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BOTAFOGO. After a defensive mix-up in BOTAFOGO's zone, Abraham Alguacil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfonso Taraborrelli came out of the goal and Abraham Alguacil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 65th minute BOTAFOGO were awarded a corner. Kauan Melo went to the cornerflag to take it. Abraham Alguacil hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kauan Melo in the 67th minute of the match. When Nilmar Correia fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored BOTAFOGO's protests and gave Nilmar Correia a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th match minute, BOTAFOGO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilmar Correia to maneuver through the defense. The BOTAFOGO fans cheered their team off the field, for while Panama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
