Paraguay were furious when Raul Venegas was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 11th minute, one of Paraguay:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Paraguay. In the 13th minute of the game, BOTAFOGO got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. Nilmar Correia hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Toninho Madureira's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 17thth minute, Jacobo Nores skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Édouard Deloge, made in the 23rd minute of the game. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Madureira in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaanek Oese in the 28th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute of the match BOTAFOGO got a corner. Paraguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Kauan Melo ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Kauan Melo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jacobo Nores quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The BOTAFOGO fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when BOTAFOGO's Toninho Madureira looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the last second Jacobo Nores throw himself and got hold of the ball when Édouard Deloge in the 39thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The audience was convinced that Édouard Deloge's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Nores was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Édouard Deloge made in the 44th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Paraguay's Xavier Zoido.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Toninho Madureira made a kick off. Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Toninho Madureira went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nilmar Correia during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Paraguay booed when BOTAFOGO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilmar Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Édouard Deloge in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to BOTAFOGO getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Kauan Melo hit a great ball.
