If Wlodzimierz Januszewski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rubinho Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wlodzimierz Januszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Joaquim Pernambucano could shoot a difficult shot in the 7th minute, which Alec Parslow however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Leões do Sul 53 booed when Northern California was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Tartalo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Doni Marques threw the ball into play from the sideline. Northern California's Faustino Charro quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wlodzimierz Januszewski in the 15th minute of play forced Leões do Sul 53's goalkeeper Rubinho Couto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Leões do Sul 53's goal looked a bit too open when Wlodzimierz Januszewski came free, but Rubinho Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leões do Sul 53's Rubinho Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wlodzimierz Januszewski in the 25th minute of play. After 27 minutes of play, Northern California's Wlodzimierz Januszewski made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rubinho Couto was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 29 played minutes Leões do Sul 53 got a freekick which was hit by Doni Marques. After a defensive mix-up in Leões do Sul 53's zone, Wlodzimierz Januszewski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubinho Couto came out of the goal and Wlodzimierz Januszewski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Doni Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wlodzimierz Januszewski in the 36th minute of play forced Leões do Sul 53's goalkeeper Rubinho Couto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience held their breath when Faustino Charro in the 42nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Rubinho Couto's left hand side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wlodzimierz Januszewski to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Wlodzimierz Januszewski fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Wlodzimierz Januszewski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wlodzimierz Januszewski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Rubinho Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Gregorio Primo fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Northern California's protests and gave Gregorio Primo a yellow card for diving instead. Gregorio Primo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. The referee gave Northern California a penalty, 63 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Wlodzimierz Januszewski, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Leões do Sul 53's Rubinho Couto. 0-2. The supporters of Leões do Sul 53 booed when Northern California was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregorio Primo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wlodzimierz Januszewski got free with Rubinho Couto in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Wlodzimierz Januszewski came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Northern California fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wlodzimierz Januszewski couldn't finish the play. In the 81st minute, Northern California's Wlodzimierz Januszewski ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rubinho Couto. Rubinho Couto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. 84 minutes into the game, Northern California's Wlodzimierz Januszewski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rubinho Couto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Wlodzimierz Januszewski struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Rubinho Couto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Northern California. The Northern California supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Northern California would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
