A collision led to The Maquis getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Pieter Wilhelm hit a great ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when The Maquis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oliver Smit didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niels Rooy's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Niels Rooy helped the player get up and apologised. After 35 played minutes The Maquis got a freekick which was hit by Niels Rooy. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Pieter Wilhelm tried to sneak it across the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pieter Wilhelm to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walther Jano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute, Marco Walregt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 66th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niels Rooy in the 67th minute of play. In the 68thth minute of the game Pieter Wilhelm who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 73rdth minute, Walther Jano skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Walther Jano made a huge save. 78 minutes into the game, The Maquis's Carsten Bont nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Walregt's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Niels Rooy advanced and headed the ball into goal, 3-2 in the 83rd minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Niels Rooy's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. 92 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Walregt came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 95 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. The Maquis were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
