The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Caseys Dreamteam 2's Ed Wilhelm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ed Wilhelm having to make a save. 12 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ed Wilhelm made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ed Wilhelm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ed Wilhelm made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Matias Abadie came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Ed Wilhelm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ed Wilhelm was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. When Rudi de Zwart fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caseys Dreamteam 2's protests and gave Rudi de Zwart a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Caseys Dreamteam 2 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudi de Zwart didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ed Wilhelm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Caseys Dreamteam 2 defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ed Wilhelm. The Caseys Dreamteam 2 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ed Wilhelm should have stopped the shot.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Ed Wilhelm in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ed Wilhelm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 69th minute of the match. When Daniel Zorita got free in front of the goal in the 70th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Ed Wilhelm was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Caseys Dreamteam 2's Jan Damstra got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 73 minutes into the match, Caseys Dreamteam 2's goalkeeper Ed Wilhelm had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Cristian Sancho in the 76thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ed Wilhelm, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 79th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ed Wilhelm could save by the left post. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Ed Wilhelm skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 81st minute, Cristian Sancho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ed Wilhelm. The goal made the score 0-7. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Ed Wilhelm made a huge save. In the 86th play minute Daniel Zorita came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ed Wilhelm. 0-8. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Caseys Dreamteam 2's goalkeeper Ed Wilhelm, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ed Wilhelm having to make a save. 93 minutes into the match, Caseys Dreamteam 2's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ed Wilhelm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Caseys Dreamteam 2 throughout the match.
