The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Retumbante FC's Apat Reina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 7th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Apat Reina was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apat Reina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 27th minute of play forced Retumbante FC's goalkeeper Apat Reina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Retumbante FC booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Leoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 played minutes Retumbante FC got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Mello. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Retumbante FC's Apat Reina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Retumbante FC from getting a goal against them. Apat Reina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 60th minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Apat Reina having to interfere. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 67th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Apat Reina could save by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Apat Reina in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Retumbante FC's goalkeeper Apat Reina, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Retumbante FC's Apat Reina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Retumbante FC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Apat Reina in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Naldo Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. A collision led to Retumbante FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Naldo Sabóia hit a great ball. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Apat Reina having to interfere.
