In the 21stth minute of the game Tomas Berganza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Celery's Leonardo Araoz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Celery getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Sergi Ramos hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, Celery's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Leonardo Araoz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute of the match, Eusebio Barroso got a very nice opportunity to score, but Marcos Cotilla was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 28 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Panama booed when Celery was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio Gaspar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leonardo Araoz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the match, Celery's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Leonardo Araoz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dylan Sarmiento's late challenge caught a Celery's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonardo Araoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The Celery players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Panama were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tristan Lane to make the kick off. Isidoro Sarmiento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonardo Araoz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Leonardo Araoz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. In the 70th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Araoz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Fábio Gaspar kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute.
