The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sergen Kutsalan. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Facundo Cadaval managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Facundo Cadaval was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vacid Seralp breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Sergio Persol sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Calentura defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vacid Seralp. The Calentura fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vacid Seralp should have stopped the shot. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Vacid Seralp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 21 minutes into the game, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vacid Seralp made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. A collision led to Calentura getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Allan Kellberg hit a great ball. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them.
