After 9 played minutes Northern California got a freekick which was hit by Dante Taurino. In the 14th minute Gervasio Isias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Engenheiros da Vila's Sérgio Jacinto got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 17 minutes into the game, Northern California's Fabio Monte nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eriberto Queirós made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Sérgio Jacinto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Santos Mino made a huge save. Eriberto Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gervasio Isias in the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gervasio Isias in the 27th minute of play forced Engenheiros da Vila's goalkeeper Eriberto Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sérgio Jacinto succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Geraldo Fernandez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Engenheiros da Vila's supporters rose to their feet, but Geraldo Fernandez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santos Mino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geraldo Fernandez made a kick off. If Gernando Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute Northern California were awarded a corner. Hector Martxel went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Fabio Monte managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Engenheiros da Vila's Eriberto Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Bernaldo in the 60th minute of play. The supporters of Northern California booed when Engenheiros da Vila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eriberto Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gervasio Isias in the 66th minute of play. After taking down the ball on Engenheiros da Vila's corner Gernando Sarmento fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Santos Mino quite easily take care of the ball. After 95 played minutes Northern California got a freekick which was hit by Bernard McFrank. Northern California were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
