August Hoffmanns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guillermo Cuarto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guillermo Cuarto in the 26th minute of play. Bogdan Ignătoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Guillermo Cuarto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but August Hoffmanns was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Bogdan Ignătoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximilian Henning in the 31st minute of play. Hugo Haupt's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bogdan Ignătoiu firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicolas Anelka in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg August Hoffmanns saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. If Cihangir Kerimhan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute KAYIHANSPOR were awarded a corner. Cihangir Kerimhan went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led KAYIHANSPOR's Cihangir Kerimhan to fire away a dangerous shot which August Hoffmanns despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicolas Anelka in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck August Hoffmanns prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anestis Kotsopoulos was the one to do the kick off. Jedrzej Gieraltowski kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. With a little luck, Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns got control of the ball when Nicolas Anelka tried to sneak it across the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, KAYIHANSPOR's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Haupt came free, but Bogdan Ignătoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anestis Kotsopoulos to maneuver through the defense. Guillermo Cuarto had several of the Rot-Weiss-Essen's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 69 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed August Hoffmanns as he didn't even see the shot coming. 72 minutes into the match, Guillermo Cuarto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of August Hoffmanns, 0-5. The audience was convinced that Nicolas Anelka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but August Hoffmanns was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Hugo Haupt might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bogdan Ignătoiu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 88th minute Guillermo Cuarto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hoffmanns saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mesut Özil fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Mesut Özil a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Mesut Özil got a free kick in the 96th minute. The Rot-Weiss-Essen supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching KAYIHANSPOR's performance. The match ended with a win for KAYIHANSPOR.
