Miguel Miralles kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Lázaro Bortzaioriz took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The supporters of S E Palmeiras booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abraham Alguacil didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute Aldo Casos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Lázaro Bortzaioriz came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Panama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Lázaro Bortzaioriz scored to the left of an out of position Marcos Cotilla, making the score, 2-0. After a rather tough play, S E Palmeiras's Celedonio Froila got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 37th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidoro Sarmiento to maneuver through the defense. When Maurício Vianna fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S E Palmeiras's protests and gave Maurício Vianna a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Panama booed when S E Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurício Vianna didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, S E Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Astor Aragones reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

53 minutes into the game, Aaron Barrios was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S E Palmeiras the free kick. After a rather tough play, Panama's Aaron Barrios got a free kick in the 53rd minute. S E Palmeiras's Teodoro Prado took a good shot, in the 54th minute, which hit the crossbar above Marcos Cotilla's head, and flew over the goal. Panama's manager was very thankful on the sidelines as his team had managed to keep the ball out of the net after some serious pressure by S E Palmeiras. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Isidoro Sarmiento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Astor Aragones breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 62 minutes into the match, S E Palmeiras's goalkeeper Astor Aragones had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isidoro Sarmiento. Astor Aragones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 69th minute of play. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, S E Palmeiras's goalkeeper Astor Aragones had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isidoro Sarmiento. Panama were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after S E Palmeiras's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Abraham Alguacil took the corner. 80 minutes into the match, Isidoro Sarmiento dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Astor Aragones, 3-1. Alex Cambeiro hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After 84 played minutes, S E Palmeiras's Maurício Vianna shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S E Palmeiras reached it. Astor Aragones showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abraham Alguacil in the 87th minute of the match. Isidoro Sarmiento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Astor Aragones tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The S E Palmeiras support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
