The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Argen-Taino getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Zapata in the 15th minute of play. Agustín Saelices's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Jesús Caminero - 0-1 was put on the score board in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play forced Argen-Taino's goalkeeper Jesús Caminero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesús Caminero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 21st minute of play.
