Bebeto de Mendonça took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Henrique Neves. Henrique Neves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 8th minute, Bebeto de Mendonça ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Henrique Neves was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Alan Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tapera's supporters rose to their feet, but Alan Coutinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henrique Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Túlio Porto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chicão Paraibano in the 16th minute. Túlio Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovânio de Barros in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Icaicara's Pedro Furlan got a free kick in the 18th minute. Nicolas Duarte charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After the first half Tapera were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bebeto de Mendonça to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Icaicara got a freekick which was hit by Válter Valadares. Haroldo Vargas charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Haroldo Vargas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Tapera getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Haroldo Vargas hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Icaicara's Chicão Paraibano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Túlio Porto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Túlio Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chicão Paraibano in the 66th minute of the match. Túlio Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovânio de Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Icaicara's Gláuber de Toledo got a free kick in the 69th minute. In the 71st minute of the match Tapera got a corner. Icaicara's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reinaldo Amaral ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Tapera's corner Reinaldo Amaral fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Henrique Neves quite easily take care of the ball. Chicão Paraibano's late challenge caught a Tapera's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chicão Paraibano helped the player get up and apologised. After 73 played minutes Icaicara got a freekick which was hit by Chicão Paraibano. Icaicara's Henrique Neves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Icaicara from getting a goal against them. Alan Coutinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Henrique Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alan Coutinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nicolas Duarte came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Tapera fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolas Duarte couldn't finish the play. After having played for 92 minutes, Alan Coutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tapera's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alan Coutinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Tapera eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
