When Tapera's Bebeto de Mendonça in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Marly's goalie prevented a goal. Clem Villa might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Túlio Porto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After 17 played minutes Tapera got a freekick which was hit by Elias Fonseca. 18 minutes into the match, Tapera's goalkeeper Túlio Porto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clem Villa. When Christian Ricaud fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marly's protests and gave Christian Ricaud a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th minute, Christian Ricaud hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Marly booed when Tapera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clem Villa in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Túlio Porto saved Tapera from getting behind.
