After a defensive mix-up in Meridiano AFC's zone, Evandro Domingues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dionisio Maiorga came out of the goal and Evandro Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Meridiano AFC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Robustiano Laurentzi hit a great ball. Evandro Domingues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dionisio Maiorga having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Ricardo Benat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Meridiano AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Albertinho de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Peru in the 16th minute of the match. The supporters of Marambaia FC booed when Meridiano AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pastor Marz didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Meridiano AFC's Dionisio Maiorga got control of the ball when Evandro Domingues tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albertinho de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Benat in the 19th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Ladislao Peru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Albertinho de Lima was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 28th minute, Evandro Domingues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joaquin Aureo's late challenge caught a Marambaia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joaquin Aureo helped the player get up and apologised. Dionisio Maiorga was out of position in the 31 minute of play, and Narciso Capixaba capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Narciso Capixaba really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Evandro Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Dionisio Maiorga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Narciso Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marambaia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Narciso Capixaba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dionisio Maiorga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ladislao Peru struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Albertinho de Lima didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meridiano AFC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ladislao Peru to make the kick off. Zeca Carioca hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Marambaia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Evandro Domingues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The supporters of Marambaia FC booed when Meridiano AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pastor Marz didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Marambaia FC were the better team. Marambaia FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
