When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wu Jian Zhen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Lautaro Mancebo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving 董荣辰. That made the score 2-2 in the 54 minute of play.
