An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Angelsø in the 13th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gian Weidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Iustin Teodor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee gave Giovana F C a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Eusébio Angelsø, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. 1-0. Turan Onursay kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tadeu Xavier got free with Dante Lacasa in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 38th match minute, Giovana F C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cullen Jobson to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the match, Giovana F C's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Gian Weidt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Mexico booed when Giovana F C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reynaldo Orlanda didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Natanael Ceresso to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Gian Weidt however easily saved by the left post. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Angelsø in the 64th minute of play. Giovana F C made a substitution. Wilson Arósio replaced Iustin Teodor. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Giovana F C's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gian Weidt in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Gian Weidt made a huge save. If Eusébio Angelsø had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matías Antunes hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gian Weidt in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With his leg Gian Weidt managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when Mexico's Alberto Tafalla fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Joel Gaona slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gian Weidt. That made the score 1-1 after 92 minutes of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
