In the 12th minute Kurt Ahlbeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christer Waaler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Åsnes's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Villiam Tidén was slow to take the kick. During this time Haymakers FC's players had a chance to rest. Jon Hesjedal's late challenge caught a Haymakers FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, Åsnes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Vie to maneuver through the defense. When Petter Vartdal fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Åsnes's protests and gave Petter Vartdal a yellow card for diving instead. Petter Vartdal kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Åsnes's Jon Hesjedal managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Sven-Olof Mogren in the 28 minute of the game. 31 minutes into the game, Kurt Ahlbeck was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Haymakers FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Åsnes the free kick. Åsnes's Christer Waaler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Villiam Tidén in the 33rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Haymakers FC defense, Jonathan Vie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kenneth Forssell. The Haymakers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kenneth Forssell should have stopped the shot. Åsnes's Christer Waaler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patric Söderqvist in the 39th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Jim Håkansson came free, but Christer Waaler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Villiam Tidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christer Waaler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jim Håkansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jonathan Vie made a kick off. Haymakers FC's Jim Håkansson got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Patric Söderqvist fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Kurt Ahlbeck could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Christer Waaler made a huge save. Joachim Kielstedt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kurt Ahlbeck scored 1-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Christer Waaler, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
