Without hesitation aimed to the right of Roman Matai, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Pavel Codin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roman Matai having to make a save. In the 16th match minute, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niculae Mateianu to maneuver through the defense. Mikolaj Lech hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Cristian Minteuan came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by STAL ST WOLA's Michel Batistuta. But to his dismay, Michel Batistuta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After some careless play in the PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN defense, Zygmunt Bielejewski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cristian Minteuan. The PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cristian Minteuan should have stopped the shot. PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Cristian Minteuan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mikolaj Lech in the 26th minute of play. The corner led STAL ST WOLA's Michel Batistuta to fire away a dangerous shot which Cristian Minteuan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, STAL ST WOLA's goalkeeper Roman Matai had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tudor Otopeanu. A collision led to STAL ST WOLA getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Zygmunt Bielejewski hit a great ball. In the 37th minute Zygmunt Bielejewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian Minteuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zygmunt Bielejewski in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristian Minteuan saved PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN from getting behind. 44 minutes into the match, Pavel Codin notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of STAL ST WOLA's Roman Matai. Roman Matai was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Pavel Codin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pavel Codin made a kick off. When PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Nicu Miniș in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye STAL ST WOLA's goalie prevented a goal. Roman Matai took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Codin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roman Matai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavel Codin, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicu Miniș in the 86th minute of play forced STAL ST WOLA's goalkeeper Roman Matai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
