Gioiese Calcio's Söncke Gärtner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gioiese Calcio's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Juan Sebastián Puig got away a dangerous shot. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Söncke Gärtner, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 88 minutes of play, Gioiese Calcio's Gerardo Ramone made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 92ndth minute got Söncke Gärtner to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Maarek Ratas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The nice shot from Daniel Zorita in the 95thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Söncke Gärtner had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Gerardo Ramone took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2.
