Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Serafim de Carvalho took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Puig in the 5th minute of play forced Atlanta United F.C.'s goalkeeper Mané França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Fábio Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafim de Carvalho in the 18th minute of the match. Mané França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Leite in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute Atlanta United F.C. were awarded a corner. Daniel da Fonseca went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Fábio Castro managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a Atlanta United F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mané França showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Mané França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 38th minute of play. After 40 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atlanta United F.C.! 47 minutes into the match, Lautaro Puig had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mané França. Atlanta United F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Puig was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Lautaro Puig got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 55th minute, Joel Leite got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Atlanta United F.C.'s Fabinho Peixoto got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 66th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mané França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Joel Leite came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Atlanta United F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Leite couldn't finish the play. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, Joel Leite had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Leite was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 85th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. Joel Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Atlanta United F.C.'s Daniel da Fonseca got a free kick in the 88th minute. Lautaro Puig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Mané França made a huge save. In the 90th minute, Lautaro Puig ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mané França was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Lautaro Puig's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mané França firmly grabbed it by the left post.
