Paralia Athens's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Åsnes the free kick. The supporters of Åsnes booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ilie Tudoran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Nicolescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Morten Hestad, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After 21 minutes of play, Åsnes's Kristian Sandersen made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristian Nicolescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Morten Hestad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Nicolescu having to interfere. After having played for 38 minutes, Rune Gjessing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Åsnes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rune Gjessing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute, Petre Maghiran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Nicolescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rune Gjessing in the 42nd minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of Åsnes:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Paralia Athens:s goal. In the 48th minute, Petre Maghiran left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paralia Athens fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Iulian Doinaș was the one to do the kick off. In the 59th minute, Ilie Tudoran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Cristian Nicolescu managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Åsnes's Rune Gjessing fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Paralia Athens's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kristian Sandersen was slow to take the kick. During this time Åsnes's players had a chance to rest. Petre Maghiran might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christer Waaler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Petre Maghiran ran back to his position shaking his head. 69 minutes into the match, Åsnes's goal looked a bit too open when Petre Maghiran came free, but Christer Waaler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kristian Sandersen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Åsnes's Christer Waaler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iulian Doinaș in the 73rd minute of play. The supporters of Paralia Athens booed when Åsnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aleksander Ånestad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paralia Athens's Petre Maghiran got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Paralia Athens's Ilie Tudoran got a free kick in the 81st minute. Cristian Nicolescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Morten Hestad, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute.
