Genk's 邵泉林 was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sérgio Madruga in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jannes Van Leempoel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Desiderio Theobald in the 19th minute of play. Sérgio Madruga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Sérgio Madruga stood somewhat misplaced when Suat Kaya came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 30 minute. If Suat Kaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 34 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Talleres's goalkeeper Sérgio Madruga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Suat Kaya. Rolando Saturnin kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Suat Kaya who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Sérgio Madruga when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Suat Kaya in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sérgio Madruga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 40th minute Genk were awarded a corner. 邵泉林 went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 42nd minute, Vergil Rupov made a precise shot to the right of Sérgio Madruga. Club Atletico Talleres's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Club Atletico Talleres's Sérgio Madruga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vergil Rupov in the 75th minute of play. Andy Corre made a great header on Club Atletico Talleres's corner, it was just that Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel managed to reach the ball for a save. The Genk fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Genk's Suat Kaya looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Erasmo Quilino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 94th minute of the game Dimitrie Sluis made a throw-in which Erasmo Quilino played forward. 96 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Talleres's goal looked a bit too open when Vergil Rupov came free, but Sérgio Madruga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 97 minutes into the match, Suat Kaya notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Club Atletico Talleres's Sérgio Madruga. Sérgio Madruga was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
