At first the shot seemed to be simple for Vila Zumbi's Abelardo Barreto to catch but Romeu Guerra was lucky. It became 3-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. When Ulysses Vaz fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Zumbi's protests and gave Ulysses Vaz a yellow card for diving instead. Ulysses Vaz hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute, Zé Carlos de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronaldo Meirelles scored 3-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nestor Quintal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nestor Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandão Peixoto in the 78th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Ulysses Vaz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Fumo Pedrais had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nestor Quintal. Independente FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fumo Pedrais was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. Romeu Guerra hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Nestor Quintal made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Hílton Vander sent off a good shot on target. Both players had fought hard during the second half to keep the score at 3-3. The tie meant more entertainment for the crowd as the match moved into extra-time.

All the players looked a little tired when it was time for the first half of the overtime. It was Vila Zumbi's Fumo Pedrais that got to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Vila Zumbi's Tenho Sorter got a free kick in the 100th minute. José Vítor Rodrigues received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Abelardo Barreto came out and tried to block the shot, but José Vítor Rodrigues slotted it home off the left post making it 4-3 in the 101st minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Independente FC had won after a very even match.
