Šemsudin Kamber was slow to take the kick. During this time FK Željezničar's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Šemsudin Kamber almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 7th match minute, FK Željezničar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bogomir Mitrović to maneuver through the defense. Grigoris Koufakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caetano Costa hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Grigoris Koufakis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Grigoris Koufakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FK Željezničar's Grigoris Koufakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 22nd minute of play. Nikola Bogdanović fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, FK Željezničar's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Grigoris Koufakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grigoris Koufakis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of the match. FK Željezničar's Nelson Mandela got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Grigoris Koufakis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 42nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. FK Željezničar's Šemsudin Kamber got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grigoris Koufakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelson Mandela's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelson Mandela was the one to do the kick off. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. In the 57th match minute, FK Željezničar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Šemsudin Kamber to maneuver through the defense. Nikola Bogdanović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 62nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The supporters of FK Željezničar booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caetano Costa lost his temper 66 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. FK Željezničar made a substitution. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
