But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago Machado couldn't finish the play. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Carlos Eduardo Dracena quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Francisco de Godoi, made in the 23rd minute of the game. Pedrinho Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marquez Padolles, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 26 minutes into the game, when Túlio Aparecido put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Castanheiro SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 26th minute. Penalty! Pedrinho Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thiago Machado in the 32nd minute of the match. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Thor Machado in the 34th minute. After taking down the ball on Coritiba Foot Ball Club's corner Evaristo Montenegro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pedrinho Guimarães quite easily take care of the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Thiago Machado notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Castanheiro SC's Pedrinho Guimarães. Pedrinho Guimarães was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

When the match was over Coritiba Foot Ball Club could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Castanheiro SC throughout the match.
