Denílson Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Enetz having to interfere. If Augusto Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute, Augusto Dracena made a precise shot to the right of Leonel Enetz. Rondeau's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 19th minute Denílson Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Enetz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Augusto Dracena in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. When Denílson Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Leão STAND BY FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denílson Queirós couldn't finish the play. After the first half Leão STAND BY FSCMZ were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

André Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Blas Caradaro in the 70th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Denílson Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leão STAND BY FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Denílson Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonel Enetz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
