After 21 played minutes FC Puhl got a freekick which was hit by Max Bürklen. Se Leu Mamou's Oséias da Costa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Se Leu Mamou from getting a goal against them. In the 26thth minute of the game Robert Rabe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Se Leu Mamou's Oséias da Costa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Roger Netto's late challenge caught a FC Puhl's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Netto helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 30 minutes, Robert Rabe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Puhl's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Rabe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Albertino Lucas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Volkmar Post was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Oséias da Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Rabe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albertino Lucas was the one to do the kick off. Ingemar Nothhelfer struck a weak shot in the 50th minute. Oséias da Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Puhl. After 52 minutes, Jacob Marder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Puhl and the Se Leu Mamou players grew even worse after the yellow card. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Se Leu Mamou would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
