But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armando Arósio couldn't finish the play. Armando Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 14th minute, Segundo Sanchez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Tupirama getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ovidio Dolfo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Freddy Edur came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Olimpo B.B. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freddy Edur couldn't finish the play. Olimpo B.B.'s Ovidio Dolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clóvis Silveira in the 33rd minute of play. If Freddy Edur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Armando Arósio put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ovidio Dolfo. 45 minutes into the match, Olimpo B.B.'s Freddy Edur sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilmar Rosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Armando Arósio was the one to do the kick off. Mário Carneiro charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mário Carneiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, Tupirama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th minute, Olimpo B.B.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Clóvis Silveira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ovidio Dolfo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Arósio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilmar Rosa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Freddy Edur went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Armando Arósio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ovidio Dolfo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Armando Arósio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ovidio Dolfo. Olimpo B.B.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armando Arósio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Gilmar Rosa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. If Armando Arósio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
