Ascacibar-Pérez's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Botafogo AP the free kick. Angel Cordarrol hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Trigo in the 13th minute of play forced Ascacibar-Pérez's goalkeeper Haroldo Lartaun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angelo Rito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Percy Reis made a huge save. Haroldo Lartaun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luís Trigo in the 15th minute of play. Percy Reis came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Ascacibar-Pérez's Osvaldo Ihazintu. But to his dismay, Osvaldo Ihazintu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If André Luís Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Botafogo AP booed when Ascacibar-Pérez was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Everardo Frasquito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Lartaun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eriberto Esteves in the 30th minute of play. Percy Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Rito in the 31st minute of play. José Pedro Coelho hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Amílton Motta kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. With a little luck, Botafogo AP's Percy Reis got control of the ball when Angelo Rito tried to sneak it across the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Angelo Rito dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Percy Reis, 2-0. In the 39th minute André Luís Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Lartaun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. André Luís Trigo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Haroldo Lartaun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ascacibar-Pérez's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angel Cordarrol was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 47thth minute of the game Angelo Rito who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo AP's Percy Reis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. André Luís Trigo was the one to do the kick off. Percy Reis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angel Cordarrol in the 52nd minute of the match. Percy Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Rito, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Ascacibar-Pérez's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Osvaldo Ihazintu in the 58th minute. Ascacibar-Pérez's Osvaldo Ihazintu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Percy Reis in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 60 minutes into the match, Ascacibar-Pérez's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Lopes came free, but Haroldo Lartaun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Angelo Rito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ascacibar-Pérez's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Rito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Percy Reis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Botafogo AP made a substitution. Mané Souza replaced Clóvis das Neves. In the 80th minute, Angelo Rito made a precise shot to the right of Percy Reis. Botafogo AP's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1.
