After a defensive mix-up in Club Athletico Paulistano's zone, Santo Normando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Acácio Lara came out of the goal and Santo Normando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 34 minutes of play, Club Athletico Paulistano's Fabinho dos Santos made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nemesio Cerilo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nemesio Cerilo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabinho dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. A collision led to Club Athletico Paulistano getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Zé Paulo de Senna hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Club Athletico Paulistano's Agnaldo Mattos got a free kick in the 47th minute. In the 48th minute Pedro Gorka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Gorka in the 84th minute of play forced Club Athletico Paulistano's goalkeeper Acácio Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Fabinho dos Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nemesio Cerilo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafinha Trancoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 95 minutes into the match, Club Athletico Paulistano's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Gorka came free, but Acácio Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
